Great Mass in F minor by Anton Bruckner

2. April, 16:00 - 17:00

Havnarkórið celebrates 60 years

The choir Havnarkórið turns 60 years old this year.

The choir was founded at the beginning of 1966. It is said that the Radio Choir (later Havnarkórið) gave its first concert on March 12, 1966 at 5:00 PM.

For almost all these years, the choir has been one of the driving forces of Faroese choral singing. Collaborations with major choral figures such as Karl Clausen, Vagn Holmboe, Willi Gohl, John Høbye, and many others have greatly developed the choir and likely the entire choral tradition in the Faroe Islands.

In recent years, the choir has mainly been considered a concert choir. However, it still performs newer choral music, something it has done since its very beginning.

Anniversary concerts

As part of the anniversary celebrations this year, many concerts are planned.
The main concerts will take place before Easter and later in November.
